As part of our mission to help patients reintegrate back into society after their surgeries and provide income-generating opportunities for them, they participate in the production of reusable sanitary pads in Madagascar and Malawi.
In 2017 in Malawi, we started a small-scale, dedicated production project in the grounds of our clinic that now employed four former fistula patients supported by other longer-term patients in the wards. The reusable sanitary pads are provided free to all our patients, as well as to school girls in partner schools. We also sell packs at an affordable price at markets, fairs, schools and hospitals, with all profits going back into the project.
