Staff at the Aberdeen Women’s Centre (AWC) were delighted to welcome Rt Hon David Mundell MP, Secretary of State for Scotland to our clinic on Friday 27 October 2017. Mr Mundell was given a guided tour of each department at AWC and visited the maternity and fistula wards, the operating theatre and paediatric clinic, meeting with staff and patients.
AWC expressed deep gratitude to Mr Mundell for DFIDD's continued support of our work in Sierra Leone. This year, AWC received vehicles from DFID that will be used to carry out screening trips throughout Sierra Leone and identify and transport fistula patients to Freetown for treatment.
During the visit, Mr Mundell was accompanied by Mr Guy Warrington, British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone and Ms Louise Robinson, Senior Health Adviser at DFID Sierra Leone.
